Louisiana ends opioid program need reviews

Louisiana no longer requires facility-need reviews for opioid treatment programs under the two repealed statutes. The law repeals R.S. 40:2116(B)(5) and R.S. 40:2159 without creating a replacement review system or adding funding. The repeal takes effect upon the governor’s signature or the constitutional deadline for becoming law without signature. After a veto override, it takes effect the day after legislative approval.
