Baker development district adds Plank Road parcels

The law expands the Baker Economic Development District to include nonresidential parcels directly bordering both sides of Plank Road. The boundary starts at the bridge at Baker’s northern city limits. It runs south across Thomas Road into unincorporated East Baton Rouge Parish at Clark Street. Parcels used wholly or partly for housing are excluded. Seven specifically listed parcels are also included: Parcel 1, 6.89 acres; Parcel 2, 24.63 acres; Parcel 3, 1.377 acres; Parcel 4, 4.299 acres; Parcel 5, 7.461 acres; Parcel 6, 1.367 acres; and Parcel 7, 33.311 acres. The boundary change does not itself set a household payment, benefit, or tax rule. The law takes effect upon the governor’s signature or expiration of the deadline for becoming law without signature. Following a veto override, it takes effect the next day.
