Louisiana’s State Board of Medical Examiners and State Board of Nursing cannot adopt or enforce rules blocking covered providers from using telehealth for obesity or weight-management care. This includes evaluating, diagnosing, and treating obesity. Providers must interact with patients in real time, work within their licenses, and meet the standard of care. The law does not require providers to offer telehealth or guarantee insurance coverage. It took effect upon the governor’s signature.
