Louisiana students get college career information

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana's Board of Regents must work with college boards, Louisiana Works, and other relevant state agencies. They must create and maintain public dashboards linking college degree programs to Louisiana job outcomes. These help students and families compare options, and help schools and policymakers assess workforce needs. Dashboards may show completion rates, job fields, typical wages and wage ranges over time, high-demand careers, and other career-related measures. They must be updated regularly, use clear, consistent measures, and protect personal identifying information. The law bars new college performance-funding requirements or limits on schools' control over courses and programs. The board may adopt rules and make data-sharing agreements, subject to state and federal privacy laws.

Louisiana tracks work experience for college credit

Beginning August 1, 2026, the Board of Regents and Louisiana Works must develop procedures to collect and study work-based learning data. This includes internships, cooperative education, and apprenticeships. The procedures must identify data needed to encourage and track credits people may have earned through work-based learning. They must also address how those credits can be properly awarded, but the law does not guarantee anyone credit.
