Broader contract exemptions, but agencies must diversify

Beginning July 1, 2026, Louisiana raises the professional-services contract exemption limit from $1 million to $2 million. Contracts with estimated project budgets at or below that limit are exempt from this part of state contracting rules. The exception in R.S. 38:2311(C) still applies. Agencies entering more than one professional-services contract per fiscal year must spread at least 50% of their exempt contracts among separate firms. Those firms must be distinct and unaffiliated.
