Massage graduates get short-term licenses with limits

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana allows temporary licenses for graduates of state-approved massage therapy schools located in Louisiana. Graduates can use the license immediately after graduation, for one three-month term that cannot be renewed. They can work only at an established massage business registered with the board. That business must also employ a fully licensed massage therapist. Before services begin, the facility must tell clients that their therapist holds a temporary license.
