Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana's health department must create a statewide nursing home quality oversight initiative. It must identify care and safety gaps, target incentives and interventions to key risks, and support lasting improvements. It must work with care providers, trade and advocacy groups, and quality improvement groups. Its Office of Aging and Adult Services must develop internal experts to support the effort. Optional tools include public data dashboards, resident and family surveys, staff training, and the federal Nursing Home Staffing Campaign. The department must identify funding, but the law sets no funding amount or separate appropriation. Reports to the state Senate and House health and welfare committees are due by January 1, 2028, and each January 1 afterward.
