Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana’s child sexual abuse material law covers AI-made images showing a sexual performance involving a child under 17. A digitally created child must look virtually indistinguishable from a child under 17 to a reasonable person. Causing this material to be digitally created, including through artificial intelligence, counts as producing it. Covered materials also include photos, films, videos, undeveloped film, and electronically stored data that can become a visual image. Producing material also includes photographing, filming, reproducing it, or soliciting, promoting, or coercing a child for that purpose.
