Lafayette expressway commission adds two parishes

Beginning August 1, 2026, the Lafayette Metropolitan Expressway Commission covers all of Lafayette, Vermilion, and Iberia parishes. Its board grows from 11 to 13 directors. The Vermilion Parish Police Jury President and Iberia Parish President each appoint one new director. The board governs the commission and sets rules for expressway maintenance and operation. The law adds no funding mechanism, specific road project, or direct household payment or charge.
