Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana towing and storage companies must offer after-hours release of vehicles or belongings towed without consent from private property. Companies cannot charge storage fees for days they are closed or unavailable for timely release. Fees stay paused until the next day of normal business hours. These rules exclude legal holidays and exempt hours; State Police can issue rules to carry out the law, including setting exempt hours. The Public Service Commission sets administrative and mailing fees for stored-vehicle reports covering in-state and out-of-state notices.
