Agencies must approve tactical medics' firearms

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana law changes the equipment rule for tactical medical professionals. The appointing law enforcement agency must approve any firearm or ammunition they carry under the law's existing requirements. This replaces the requirement for the agency to issue that equipment. The change adds no new qualifications or training requirements.
