Gaming board chair gains retirement, pay limits

The law makes the Louisiana Gaming Control Board chair a full-time state employee. A chair appointed and employed in that position on or after July 1, 2024, is eligible for state employee retirement membership. Annual salary matches a Louisiana appeals court judge’s pay, with total compensation including judges’ expenses, benefits, allowances, and supplemental pay. The chair can also earn adjunct professor pay, but no other compensation is allowed. Other board members remain generally ineligible for state retirement credit unless a law authorizes it with two-thirds approval from each house’s elected members.
