Louisiana lawmakers can refer a judge’s conduct to the Judiciary Commission for investigation instead of bringing impeachment proceedings. They must find that the conduct could amount to gross misconduct or serious wrongdoing in office. Both chambers must adopt a concurrent resolution using the rules for passing a bill. The referral authorizes an investigation; it does not remove the judge.
