Limits local barriers to housing growth
The law stops cities and towns from blocking projects with maximum road-length caps when roads meet the state fire code. Towns cannot put a number cap on lots on a dead-end street if the lots meet current zoning. Towns must allow wells, septic, electric lines, and drainage in subdivision open space or buffer areas, unless the area is a wetland or protected shoreland. Cities and towns can still enforce health, safety, building, and environmental rules, review plans, and require conditions to meet state laws. These rules apply statewide. The law takes effect 60 days after passage.
