One-time aid for Medicaid nursing homes
The law provides $5 million for one-time payments to licensed nursing facilities that serve Medicaid patients. DHHS pays facilities that on January 1, 2026 had a new daily rate under 95% of their July 1, 2025 rate. DHHS decides how to divide the funds. The money is for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The governor can draw the funds from the state treasury.
New group to review Medicaid nursing-home rates
DHHS creates a public working group to study how Medicaid pays nursing homes. Meetings follow the Right-to-Know law. Members include two legislators, DHHS, county, health care and hospital groups, and a governor‑appointed CPA with nursing‑home cost expertise. The group studies access and waiting lists, hospital discharge delays, resident care needs, capital costs, workforce pay, sector solvency, and fair rules for ownership changes. If DHHS plans changes, the commissioner sends proposed law or rule updates by December 31, 2026 to legislative leaders, the governor, the state library, and the county‑state finance commission.
