New fund supports Revolutionary War sites
The law creates a non-lapsing fund to support and preserve Revolutionary War heritage tourism sites across New Jersey. Plate fees go into the fund after the MVC is repaid for program costs; reimbursements for initial computer programming cannot exceed $150,000. The state appropriates fund money each year for the sites, and interest and other income also go toward that purpose.
Anniversary plate fees and launch rules
The MVC issues these plates for vehicles owned or leased and registered in New Jersey. Applicants pay $50 plus regular registration fees, then $10 each year after the year of issuance. The MVC cannot begin work until it has money to cover initial costs and 500 completed applications with fees for the initial order, totaling $25,000. The Historic Trust or its designee must provide private money for initial costs, up to $25,000. The law becomes operative on the first day of the 13th month following enactment if both launch conditions are met. It expires if they are not met by the last day of the 12th month after enactment.
