Beginning March 31, 2025, New Jersey State Police must provide, maintain, and update a free online portal. People already granted an expungement order can check its electronic processing status at the State Bureau of Identification. State Police must also send the Governor and Legislature an annual calendar-year report and publish it on their official website. Reports must show orders received since January 1 and each month, broken down by expungement type, plus year-to-date totals processed and processing timeframes. The law does not change expungement eligibility or guarantee when processing will finish.
