Extends deadline for submission of temporary certificate of occupancy for certain qualified residential projects or mixed-use parking projects under Economic Redevelopment and Growth Grant program to June 30, 2032.

Developers get more time for grant projects

The law extends the temporary occupancy certificate deadline to June 30, 2032, for two groups of New Jersey grant-backed projects. The first covers category (vi) mixed-use parking projects and category (viii) residential or mixed-use parking projects in qualifying Garden State Growth Zones. Applications must have been submitted before July 1, 2019, or, for category (viii), before December 31, 2021. Projects must have been approved after P.L.2017, c.59 took effect. Before July 1, 2018, the municipality must have sent a support letter identifying up to six projects. The second group covers municipal redevelopers’ category (vi) or (viii) mixed-use parking projects undertaken after P.L.2022, c.75 took effect. These projects must receive a redevelopment incentive grant, and their required approval-action dates also move back by 30 months. These extensions give eligible developers more time, not a direct household payment.
