Districts fund out-of-district renaissance school students

For students attending renaissance school projects outside their home district, the home district must pay the nonprofit operator. Payments equal 95% of the home district’s per-student spending, paid in 12 equal monthly installments. They include security aid tied to the student and a share of special education aid. That share equals the percentage of the district’s special education students enrolled in the project. Payments also include 100% of applicable preschool aid; federal funds tied to the student must also go to the project. The law takes effect July 8, 2026, and payments begin with the first full school year after enactment.
