Home care firms face financial reporting duties

Beginning July 22, 2026, required firm reports must list insurance coverage, independent contractors, and litigation and regulatory actions from the previous three years, including outcomes. Reports must also list transactions or liabilities exceeding 50% of total billings or liabilities, respectively. If New Jersey's Division of Consumer Affairs doubts a firm's financial health, it can request more information or order corrective action after an adverse finding. An adverse finding also requires review by a different independent reviewer and an audit for the next calendar year, regardless of gross income. All required audits are due September 30 of the calendar year they are due.

Home care firms face changed audit rules

Beginning July 22, 2026, New Jersey health care service firms face a higher Medicaid Personal Care Assistance audit threshold. The threshold rises from receipts over $250,000 to receipts over $500,000. Firms with receipts below $500,000 and annual gross income below $10 million must submit a report instead. Removing the old $1 million income minimum brings smaller firms into that reporting requirement. Required audits can use certified public accountants licensed in New Jersey or any other U.S. jurisdiction.
