Effective June 30, 2026, the law extends New Jersey's telehealth payment protections through December 31, 2027. Covered plans include Medicaid, NJ FamilyCare, and state and school employee health plans. Plans must cover telehealth services and pay providers the same rate as in-person care when they cover that care in New Jersey. Equal-payment protection does not apply to telehealth organizations that do not offer the same service in person in New Jersey. For live audio-only physical care without stored information sent for later review, provider contracts set payment at no less than 50% of the in-person rate. Live audio-only behavioral health care receives the full in-person rate, whether or not stored information is also used.
