New Jersey shifts business tax credit funding
The law cuts the Next New Jersey Program’s tax credit cap from $500 million to $250 million. These credits cover certain artificial intelligence or data center projects. The $250 million difference goes back to the Aspire and Emerge programs for eligible projects. The total tax credit cap across all three programs stays unchanged. The $250 million awarded to one Next New Jersey project as of May 2026 is not affected.
