Clarkstown limits annual tax class shifts

In Clarkstown’s approved assessing unit, any property tax class share can rise by no more than one percentage point from last year. This applies to proportions set using the 2017-2018 through 2026-2027 assessment rolls. It only applies if the assessing unit adopts the cap by local law, ordinance, or resolution. If the cap limits a class’s increase, officials adjust other class shares so all add up to 100%. The law takes effect immediately.
