Black sea bass fishing rules through 2029

The law extends DEC’s power to manage black sea bass through December 31, 2029. DEC can set size limits, catch and possession limits, seasons, closed areas, gear and landing rules, permits, recordkeeping, and rules on transport, possession, and sale. These rules apply to both recreational and commercial fishers. Regulations must be at least as strict as state law and match Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and federal fishery plans. The law takes effect immediately.
