Speargun use for recreation extended to 2029

Recreational spearfishers in New York’s marine and coastal waters can keep using spearguns. The law extends the current rules through June 1, 2029. The act takes effect immediately. The extension of the spearfishing rules applies 90 days after enactment. The Department of Environmental Conservation continues to enforce the rules.
