Longer World Trade Center benefits for militia

The law extends the filing deadline for World Trade Center-related claims to September 11, 2030. It covers New York organized militia members on state duty on or after September 11, 2001. Their duty must have been rescue, recovery, or cleanup at the World Trade Center. Members with a qualifying WTC condition get a disability pension equal to 75% of their final yearly pay. If a member dies from a qualifying condition, the spouse, children under 21, or a dependent parent get a one-time payment of 50% of final yearly pay. These changes apply now.
