No-cost asthma inhalers in most plans

Beginning January 1, 2027, most New York health plans that cover prescriptions must cover asthma inhalers. You can get one rescue and one maintenance inhaler with no deductible, copay, or coinsurance. A doctor or other licensed prescriber must write the prescription. If your plan is an HSA-eligible high-deductible plan, the inhaler can still be subject to the plan’s annual deductible to keep HSA eligibility. This applies to plans and policies issued or changed on or after that date.
