Montgomery court officers get peace officer powers

The law gives uniformed court officers who work for the Town Court of Montgomery peace officer status. They now have the legal powers that come with that role. They may carry or handle a gun only if they have a firearm license under Penal Law 400.00. The law takes effect immediately.
