2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.
In Onondaga County, you pay an extra 1% local sales and use tax on taxable purchases. This is on top of the county’s 3% base rate. The law authorizes this extra 1% through November 30, 2027. Your yearly cost depends on how much you buy.
The law sets how the net money from the extra 1% tax is shared. For Dec 1, 2025–Nov 30, 2026 and again Dec 1, 2026–Nov 30, 2027, the split is paid out each quarter: 1.58% to Onondaga County, 97.79% to the City of Syracuse, and 0.63% to school districts. This applies only to net collections from the extra 1% rate. These funds are not part of revenue-sharing deals under Tax Law 1262(c).
