Beginning January 1, 2027, New York health insurers must cover medically necessary transvaginal ultrasounds during pregnancy. Coverage applies when national clinical guidelines recommend the test. The guidelines must be evidence-based, from independent medical groups, with clear methods and conflict-of-interest rules. It applies only to policies or contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered, or amended on or after that date. The law does not add special copays or limits.
