The law lets Franklin County add an extra 1% sales and use tax. This is on top of the county’s 3% local rate, for a total local rate of up to 4%. The authorization runs from June 1, 2006 through November 30, 2027. You pay the extra 1% on taxable purchases made in Franklin County while the county’s local law is in effect. The act takes effect immediately.
