Authorizes the Jamesville-DeWitt central school district to discontinue the use of school district-owned parklands and to lease such parklands to the town of Onondaga

Onondaga park lease protects public access

Effective immediately, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District can lease about 14.85 acres of district parkland to the Town of Onondaga. The lease must be at fair market value and last no more than 30 years. The town must maintain and operate the land, buildings, and facilities for park or recreation use. They must remain open to New York residents, with a fair way to assign access when space or services are limited. School district residents living outside the town cannot face higher fees than town residents. The district must use lease money to buy new parkland or make lasting improvements to existing park and recreation facilities. If the land stops serving the required park or recreation purposes, the lease ends and the land returns to the district for those purposes.
