Health plans cover dyslexia testing with referral

The law requires health plans that cover doctor or medical services to cover a full neuropsychological exam for dyslexia. A physician must refer you for the test. The exam must be done by a health professional licensed under the state Education Law (Title 8) and within their scope. Plans cannot exclude screening, diagnosis, or treatment for conditions they otherwise cover. Coverage follows normal plan rules like medical management and using in-network providers.
