Cybersecurity rules for state-bought devices

The law requires the commissioner and all state agencies to follow the NIST Cybersecurity Framework when buying end point devices. It defines end point devices to include desktops, laptops, all-in-ones, tablets, mobile or cellular phones, thin clients, monitors, printers, and multi-function machines that copy, print, scan, or fax. These rules apply when agencies purchase these devices and align state buying with national cybersecurity standards. The goal is stronger security for state devices and the public services they support.
