The law limits how much tax burden can shift between property classes in an approved assessing unit in Orangetown, Rockland County. A class’s share cannot rise by more than 1 percentage point over last year’s adjusted share. This applies to assessment rolls from 2018–2019 through 2025–2026, if the unit’s board passes a local law or resolution to use it. If a class would rise more than 1 point, it is capped at 1 point and other class shares are adjusted so all total 100%. The law is now in effect.
