Yonkers income tax surcharge extended

Yonkers can keep its city income tax surcharge on residents. The rate is set by the city but cannot be more than 19.25% of your New York net state income tax. Your extra tax equals your net state tax times the Yonkers rate. It applies to tax years beginning after December 31, 1983 and before January 1, 2028. The Yonkers-specific section of this law ends on September 30, 2027. The state tax department collects and distributes the surcharge.
