If you buy taxable goods in Yonkers, you pay an extra 0.5% local sales tax when the city’s local law is in effect. The city must pass a local law or resolution to collect it. The authority runs from September 1, 2015 through November 30, 2027, and this act takes effect immediately. The state’s permission ends on November 30, 2027 unless renewed, and these amendments expire with the underlying clause on that date. The law also keeps Yonkers’ separate 1% add‑on in place for the same period.
