Yonkers extra sales taxes extended

Effective immediately, the law extends Yonkers's authority to charge extra sales taxes through November 30, 2027. It authorizes added rates of 1% and 0.5% on top of the city's 3% base rate. Together, these rates allow a city sales tax of up to 4.5%, separate from other sales taxes. The city must adopt a local law, ordinance, or resolution to impose the added taxes. Shoppers pay the added tax on taxable purchases only when the city imposes it.
