Yonkers mortgage recording tax lasts through 2027
Effective immediately, the law extends Yonkers’ authority to impose its mortgage recording tax from August 31, 2025, through August 31, 2027. Yonkers sets the tax through local laws. It covers mortgages on Yonkers property recorded on or after the local tax takes effect, while it remains in effect. The unchanged rate is 50 cents per $100, or major fraction of $100, of the maximum principal debt the mortgage can secure. A mortgage securing less than $100 has a 50-cent tax.
