Orleans County sales tax authority lasts longer
Effective immediately, the law extends Orleans County’s added sales and use tax authority from November 30, 2025, through November 30, 2027. This authority began June 1, 1993. The county can keep a 4% local rate: the base 3% plus one percentage point. The county must adopt or amend a local tax measure; this state law does not itself impose the tax. Households making taxable purchases subject to the county’s tax pay the added amount when the county imposes it.
