You pay an extra 1% sales tax on taxable purchases made in Westchester County. Retailers collect it at the register. The extra tax equals the price times 1%. The authorization runs from August 1, 2019 through November 30, 2027.
Westchester County must follow a statutory spending limit for fiscal years 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027. If the adopted county budget for 2025, 2026, or 2027 exceeds the limit, section 1262-b of the tax law is repealed. These rules take effect now and end November 30, 2027.
