Courts consider recent animal cruelty for temporary risk orders

The law adds recent aggravated cruelty to animals as a factor judges consider for temporary extreme risk protection orders. "Recent" means within the six months before the petition is filed. Judges must also weigh how long ago the acts happened and the person’s age at that time. The law takes effect immediately.
