The law extends certain regulatory relief for medical malpractice insurers through December 31, 2028. Insurers that meet the law’s listed criteria stay exempt from a set of rules until that date (Insurance Law §1324). For domestic malpractice insurers, no one can apply to rehabilitate or liquidate the company on the grounds in §7402(a) or (c) before December 31, 2028. The law takes effect now.
