Late tax break for fire district

The law lets the Town of Haverstraw assessor accept a late tax‑exemption filing from the Thiells‑Roseville Fire District for the 2024–2025 assessment roll. It applies to five parcels: 1 Angelus Drive; 69, 63, 63A, and 65 West Ramapo Road (tax map 26.09-4-11, 26.09-4-12, 26.09-4-15, 26.09-4-14, 26.09-4-13) in Rockland County. The assessor treats the filing as on time and, if the district qualified and the town board approves, can grant exemption from school and property taxes and fix the roll. Local officials may refund any taxes and fines already paid and may cancel unpaid taxes, penalties, interest, or liens. The act takes effect immediately.
