Extra 0.5% sales tax in Schenectady County

The law authorizes Schenectady County to add 0.5% to its sales and use tax. This is on top of the county's 3% rate, for a total of 3.5%. The county must pass a local law, ordinance, or resolution for it to apply. The authority runs from June 1, 2003 through November 30, 2027. When in effect, you pay the extra 0.5% on taxable purchases made in the county.
