Highland Hospital security get limited peace powers

This law takes effect immediately. Highland Hospital security officers are peace officers while on hospital property. Off hospital grounds, they may use those powers only to transport an arrested person. The local police chief, or a designee, must request it, and no local officer is available to transport in time. Their powers are only those in state law section 2.20(1)(a),(b),(c),(d),(e), and (h). They may detain someone only for a reasonable time while waiting for police, and only with actual knowledge or probable cause of an offense. They may not carry or work with a gun unless licensed under Penal Law section 400.00.
