Local health officials can request death reports

The law lets the State Health Commissioner name designees, including local health officials, to request death-related reports for official Health Department work. After a written request, coroners, coroners’ physicians, or medical examiners must send copies of all reports and records tied to the death, including autopsy and toxicology reports. They must send them within three business days after each report is finished. This takes effect immediately.
