Local governments keep abandoned property transfer process
New York cities, towns, and villages keep a special court process to take ownership of abandoned commercial or industrial property. Effective immediately, the law moves the process’s expiration from June 30, 2025, to June 30, 2028. The authority expires and is repealed on that new date. The extension adds no direct household payments or individual duties.
