Clinton County can charge a hotel or motel tax up to 5% of the nightly room price. It applies to hotels, motels, bed-and-breakfasts, and similar tourist lodging. The tax is added to the bill you pay per night and is on top of other applicable taxes. It does not apply if you are a permanent resident, meaning you stay 30 or more days in a row. The law takes effect immediately.
