The law lets the Town of Hurley stop using 8.300 acres as parkland to build a new highway garage. The town can do this only after it dedicates a different 8.003‑acre parcel as parkland, if that parcel has never been used as a park. If the new parkland is worth less than the old land, the town must spend the difference on buying more parkland or improving parks. If federal funds ever supported the old parkland, the town must meet federal conversion rules and provide equal value and usefulness. The Town Board sets the terms, and the act takes effect immediately.
