Tompkins County’s extra sales tax authority extended
The law immediately extends Tompkins County’s extra 1% sales and use tax authority from November 30, 2025, through November 30, 2027. This allows a 4% county rate: the base 3% plus the extra 1%. The law does not itself impose the tax; the county must adopt or amend a local measure. Households pay the extra tax on purchases subject to it when the county imposes it.
